'We Need to Talk About Palestine' Staged in Balıkesir

The theater play "We Need to Talk About Palestine", which is among the most remarkable theater plays of the last period with its subject, met with the audience in cooperation with Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality, Balıkesir City Council, Turkey Youth Foundation (TÜGVA) and New Generation Youth Foundation.

With the cooperation of Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality, Balıkesir City Council, Turkish Youth Foundation (TÜGVA) and the New Generation Youth Foundation, the theater play "We Need to Talk About Palestine" met with art lovers at the Salih Tozan Cultural Center. The play “We Need to Talk About Palestine” written and played by Nurdan Albamya İnce; directed by Yunus Emre Obut, set design by Vedat Oyuryüz, puppet design by İsmail Volkan Ceylan and music by Ömer Kılıç. The play, which lasts approximately 70 minutes as a single act; it is one of the most remarkable theater plays of the last period with its subject and messages. In the play, in which puppets sometimes accompany the story; Activist Rachel Corrie, who was crushed to death by Israeli bulldozers, and Palestinian families who were forced to vacate their homes by Israeli soldiers, are mentioned. The audience, who filled the hall, attended the musical feast performed by the Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Conservatory artists before the play.

SUBJECT OF THE PLAY

The Palestinian Meryem, whose window opens to the Masjid al-Aqsa, is shocked by the occupier Israel's claim to buy her house. Seeing that Meryem is not convinced despite the high amounts offered, the invaders begin to harass Meryem. Meryem, whose electricity and water are cut off, barricades are set up in front of her house, garbage is dumped on her door, does not give up and locks herself in her house. Within this period, he begins to tell his whole life to his flower and bird. Meryem will have to face and accept her biggest trauma. In the end, she realizes that it is not a solution to lock herself in her house, and she will leave the house and continue her watch in Masjid al-Aqsa.
