Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality celebrates April 4th World Stray Animals Day. The Metropolitan Municipality is not only with the street animals on October 4 and April 4, but also cares for animals every day with the tons of food it distributes and the healing hands of compassionate veterinarians.
"World Stray Animals Day" has been celebrated on April 4th every year since 2010 in order to improve the living conditions of stray animals trying to live under difficult conditions all over the world and to raise awareness about the situation they are in. Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality provides all the needs of stray animals with its İvrindi Stray Animals Rehabilitation Center, which is an example for Turkey, Balıkesir Stray Animal Nursing Home in Ovaköy, food machines and feeding points, also they immediately comes to the rescue of stray animals in need of emergency medical attention with VETBUS and VETBULANS.
Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality, which has taken important steps to create a safe city for stray animals, continues to work with a management approach that embraces all living creatures and respects their right to life, under the leadership of Mayor Yücel Yılmaz. Veterinarians affiliated to the Environmental Protection and Control Department continue to provide healing by performing very comprehensive health screenings such as internal and external parasite screening, ultrasound, vaccination of stray animals in rehabilitation centers, nursing homes and districts.
Citizens can report to the Stray Animals Temporary Nursing Home Transport Vehicles which provides 24/7 service for the treatment of injured and in need of care animal friends, Metropolitan Municipality call center; 444 40 10, ALO 153 and Environmental Protection and Control Department.
