Oleander Flowers Replace Garbage
27.03.2023

Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality rehabilitates the wild storage areas in the districts one by one and brings them back to nature. Having planted 7,000 oleander saplings in the rehabilitated areas in Ayvalık, Gömeç, Burhaniye and Gömeç, the Metropolitan Municipality will transform formerly garbage-smelling areas into fragrant ones.

In line with the "human and nature friendly" management approach of Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Yücel Yılmaz, sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions are produced for the waste problem in the city. Continuing its rehabilitation works in the 269 thousand 619 square meters wild storage area in the city with rational and planned investments, Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality planted 7 thousand oleander saplings in the wild storage areas in Ayvalık Küçükköy, Burhaniye Pelitköy, Balya Koyuneri and Gömeç where the works were completed. With the growth and development of oleanders, areas that used to cause bad odor as garbage will look good and smell good from now on.

WASTES TURN INTO ENERGY

On the one hand, the Metropolitan Municipality brings the old garbage dumps to the nature, on the other hand, it continues its rehabilitation works in the wild storage areas. Thanks to the planned rehabilitation works of the Metropolitan Municipality, a total of 2 million 800 thousand cubic meters of solid waste is rehabilitated in modern facilities in a nature-friendly way and used in energy generation.
