Cunda Prepares for Summer with Metropolitan Municipality
29.03.2023

Metropolitan Municipality prepares Balıkesir coasts for summer. Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality accelerated its work on the coasts of the city before the approaching summer season. In addition to the landscaping works on Edremit Güre Coast and Erdek Çuğra Coast, Ayvalık, one of Turkey's leading tourism locations, is working to prepare the Cunda (Alibey) Island coastline for the holiday season.

THE REGION'S INFRASTRUCTURE IS RENEWED COMPLETELY

The Cunda Island Promenade, where a comprehensive landscaping project was carried out by the Metropolitan Municipality, was planned to meet all the needs of both the people of the island and the visitors. In addition to the worn out electricity and internet lines, the drinking water network lines are completely renewed by the Metropolitan Municipality Water and Sewerage Administration.

BOATS WERE ALSO CONSIDERED

Within the scope of the works in which the coastal protection concretes, which were worn out by the experience of many years, were strengthened to make them longer-lasting and where the boats could be connected easily, the insufficient electricity and water connections at the points where the boats were moored were increased.

ANCIENT PAVING STONES SUITABLE FOR THE IDENTITY OF THE ISLAND ARE USED

The interlocking paving stones, which have been in use for many years and have completed their useful life, are being removed. Anthracite colored cube stones are being cobbled with a simple design that will not overshadow the magnificence of historical buildings, in accordance with the historical and cultural identity of Cunda.

REVISION IN SQUARES AND PARKS

Within the scope of the works, the Metropolitan Municipality will revise the square, park and green areas along the promenade in accordance with today's usage patterns and needs and will carry out landscaping.

OLD URBAN FURNITURES WILL BE RENEWED

The buildings and city units that interrupt pedestrian traffic during the promenade tours enjoyed by the visitors and residents of the region will be moved to more suitable places, and urban furniture such as old benches and garbage cans will be renewed by the Metropolitan Municipality. It is aimed that the first phase of the works, in which the lighting systems will be reorganized, will be completed by the Ramadan.
