30 Million Lira Support to Amateur Sports Clubs from The Metropolitan Municipality

Participating in the Amateur Sports Week Closing Ceremony, Mayor of Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Yücel Yılmaz stated that they will provide 30 million TL financial support to amateur sports clubs this year and said that they will support sports at every point. In the ceremony where the Best of Sports were also awarded, athletes representing Balıkesir in national and international competitions were also presented their awards. 

The Closing Ceremony of the Amateur Sports Week, organized under the auspices of Balıkesir Governorship and with the support of Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality, Karesi Municipality and Altıeylül Municipality and in coordination with Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports and Balıkesir Federation of Amateur Sports Clubs, was held at Avlu Congress and Culture Center. Within the scope of Amateur Sports Week activities organized simultaneously in the second week of October every year in 81 provinces by the Ministry of Youth and Sports; 30 Million TL cash support was given to amateur sports clubs operating in Balıkesir by Metropolitan Mayor Yücel Yılmaz.

BALIKESİR'S SPORTS FAMILY IS GROWING DAY BY DAY

337 sports clubs, nearly 100 thousand athletes, With 95 sports facilities, they are working together with excitement and enthusiasm as a part of our sports family, which is growing day by day, said Âdem Özalp, Provincial Director of Youth and Sports: "On our journey as a city of youth and sports, after the opening of Ali Hikmet Paşa Sports Complex, one of the most comprehensive sports fields in the Marmara Region, by our Metropolitan Municipality with the contributions of our Ministry, we welcome you all to the Amateur Sports Week Closing Ceremony, where our athletes and sports veterans who make us proud with their success will be awarded. We have 72 active National Athletes. We will raise new Yasemin's, new Habibe's, new Ali Eren's with the work we have done."

SPORTS IN BALIKESİR ARE PRACTICED UNDER THE BEST CONDITIONS

Speaking about Ali Hikmet Paşa Sports Complex, Metin Mengüç, President of Turkish Amateur Sports Federation Balıkesir Branch, stated that they experienced a very beautiful and proud event during the Amateur Sports Week and said, "There are no such facilities in 81 provinces. They worked very hard day and night. It is a matter of joy and pride for Balıkesir Amateurs, because Balıkesir deserved this. We are very happy and proud. We are lucky as Balıkesir Amateurs. Sports are practiced in the best conditions in Balıkesir. Our Metropolitan Municipality provides cash aids to our amateur sports clubs."

WE ARE MAKING AHP FACILITIES A SPORTS FACTORY"

Stating that they opened the 1977-built Ali Hikmet Paşa Sports Facility to public service with its new face, Mayor of Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Yücel Yılmaz said, "We are making it an athlete factory. We opened a facility that will serve 2,500 students in 25 branches at the same time. Balıkesir is changing in every aspect. The number of our facilities has increased. We opened our swimming pool. We are opening a facility everywhere. When it comes to Amateur Sports Clubs, people who do it voluntarily, wholeheartedly and willingly come to mind. As Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality, we are starting to support them at every point. Success is increasing. We want to increase the number of sports fields. In our 20 districts, we provide financial and in-kind support to all amateur sports clubs. This year we will provide 30 million TL support. When we look at Turkey's average, this is a tremendous figure. We believe that success will follow; like Yasemin, Habibe and Ali Erenler."

ALİ EREN'S WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH WILL BE PLAYED IN BALIKESİR

Stating that they will make a special organization for Ali Eren Demirezen, Mayor Yücel Yılmaz gave the good news that Ali's match in the World Boxing Championship will be held in Balıkesir. 

NATIONAL ATHLETES OF THE FUTURE WILL BE TRAINED IN BALIKESİR

Stating that the Amateur Sports Week Closing Ceremony was held with a very nice organization, Governor of Balıkesir İsmail Ustaoğlu said: "Being with young people, being with our young people who devote themselves to sports excites us all. We see the İsmail Akçay's, Yasemin's, Ali Eren's of the future. We believe that these young people, with this excitement, will raise our flag in the international arena in the future and sing our National Anthem with pride."

“THE BESTS” IN SPORTS WERE AWARDED

Following the protocol speeches, awards and plaques were presented to athletes who represented Balıkesir in national and international competitions in different branches and sports veterans who have served in sports for many years at the 2023 Best of Sports Award Ceremony. 

The Most Successful Athlete of the Year Duygu Gen (Wrestling) U17 European Champion, U17 World Runner-Up, Breakthrough Athlete of the Year Yağız Sarıkaya (Triathlon), Most Successful Coach of the Year Buğra Kandiş (Sailing), Most Successful Sports Team and Coach of the Year Bandırmaspor U19 Football Team and Coach Fatih İçöz, Most Successful Paralympic Male Athlete of the Year Sinan Balacan (Physically Disabled Swimming), Most Successful Paralympic Female Athlete of the Year Muhsine Gezer (Para Athletics), Sports Reporter of the Year İlkan Toprak, 2022 Honorary Award for Lives Dedicated to Amateur Sports; Necati Seçal, Mehmet Sarı, Fehim Dikmen, Şinasi Çağlı, Nazım Çoban. 

Governor of Balıkesir İsmail Ustaoğlu, Mayor of Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Yücel Yılmaz, Karesi District Governor Metin Arslanbaş, Altıeylül Mayor Hasan Avcı, Balıkesir Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Major General Nurettin Alkan, Turkish Amateur Sports Federation Balıkesir Branch President Metin Mengüç, Provincial Director of Youth and Sports Âdem Özalp, provincial protocol, athletes and coaches attended the ceremony.
