Balıkesir Art Days Special to 100th Anniversary

Balıkesir Governorship, Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality, Balıkesir Education, Culture and Art Foundation and Balıkesir City Council organized Art Days all around the city simultaneously. Balıkesir Art Days ended with the 100th anniversary special concert "Songs Atatürk Loved".

 Balıkesir Art Days, where traditional arts are exhibited, discussed and applied workshops take place, were organized simultaneously all around the city in cooperation with Balıkesir Governorship, Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality, Balıkesir Education, Culture and Art Foundation and Balıkesir City Council in a special way for the 100th anniversary of the Republic. In this context, citizens showed great interest in the workshops held between October 27-31. Art Days ended with a concert titled "Songs that Atatürk loved" by TRT Ankara Radio Turkish Art Music Singer Bahadır Özüşen.

LIVING IZNIK TILES AND PHILOSOPHY OF ART

The interview with the theme of "Living Iznik Tiles and Philosophy of Art" was held at Çamlık BALMEK Workshops with the participation of Dr. Mehmet Gürsoy, who was accepted as a heritage bearer by UNESCO in 2009 and declared as a "Living Human Treasure". Mehmet Gürsoy, who defines tile art as "Eye Music", emphasized that he is trying to carry the legacy of ancestors to the present day and said, "It is a beautiful event to be accepted as a heritage bearer in the world of an artist and to be worthy of it. Competitions are opportunities offered to us to discover star artist candidates." 

FELT TECHNIQUE FROM TRADITION TO FUTURE

The workshop on the theme of "Puppet Making with Traditional Felt Technique" was organized by Assoc. See. Salih Girgiç took place at Çamlık BALMEK Workshops. Girgiç said that the art of felt, which came to Anatolia from Central Asia with the Seljuk Turks and identified with Konya and Mevlana, was passed down from generation to generation in his family, and stated that they continued this art inherited from his father and grandfather as Girgiç's children. The workshop was held on the historical processes, structure, content and display features of traditional felt technique and puppet making arts, puppet and depiction making technique.

MARBLING ART WAS DISCUSSED IN EVERY ASPECT

The "Marbling" themed talk was held at Besim Aga Mansion Nel Marbling Workshop with the participation of calligraphy and marbling artist Fuat Başar, who was awarded in the Traditional Arts Branch of the Presidential Culture and Art Grand Awards. Fuat Başar talked about his research on every aspect of marbling, especially the physicochemistry of marbling, and his experiences in the art.

MINIATURE ART WAS DISCUSSED

"Miniature Art and Techniques" themed conversation, Lecturer. Assist. Jahongir Ashurov took place at Balıkesir Art Gallery with the participation of art lovers. Ashurov said, "From tradition to the future, we came together with our precious masters who labor for our unique culture, to protect our intangible cultural heritage and transfer it to the new century." 

COFFEE RITUALS FROM OTTOMAN TIMES TO TODAY

The talk on "Coffee Rituals from the Ottoman Period to the Present" was held at BALBUCKS with the participation of history researcher Uğur Atik. The conversation ended with the stories of the original colors and ornaments used on special occasions in the 16th and 19th centuries during the Ottoman period, such as coffee cups, trays, sugar bowls and soup bowls. 

THEY GAINED EXPERIENCE WITH MADDER

"The Colors of Sındırgı From Blue to Indigo" interview took place at Kışla Museum Han with the participation of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Genç. In the event where 100 meters of fabric was dyed with root dye technique; The fabrics dyed with dyes obtained from plants boiled in wood fire were hung on ropes and left to dry on the Yağcıbedir Culture Road where Yağcıbedir Carpets were laid. Students from schools in the district and different provinces also participated in the event. In addition to dyeing fabrics in the program, which was followed with curiosity by students and citizens, the participants gained experience by dyeing the t-shirts given to them with root dye.

ATATURK'S FAVORITE SONGS WERE SUNG ALL IN ONE VOICE

TRT Ankara Radio Turkish Art Music Singer Bahadır Özüşen's concert titled "Atatürk's Favorite Songs" was held at Avlu Congress and Culture Center. Atatürk's favorite songs such as "Vardar Ovası", "Yanık Ömer", "Efem", "Sarı Kurdelem", "Sallasana Sallasana Mendilini" were sung in unison with the accompaniment of the audience. The program ended with great enthusiasm with the singing of the 10th Year Anthem with Turkish flags in hand.
