An Example for Türkiye "Bandırma Stray Animal Treatment Centre"
09.11.2023

Mayor of Metropolitan Municipality Yücel Yılmaz, who opened the "Stray Animal Treatment Centre" in Bandırma after Edremit, which will be an example for Türkiye, said, "Our investments will continue to increase, Bandırma will become a completely different place."

Following Edremit, Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality also opened the "Stray Animal Treatment Centre" in Bandırma, which will set an example for Türkiye. Opened by Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Yücel Yılmaz, the Stray Animal Treatment Centre will meet an important need in the Southern Marmara Region and will also serve as an emergency intervention base for stray animals. Speaking at the opening of the Centre, which became operational as the 9th nursing home in the city and the 4th nursing home after Ovaköy, İvrindi and Edremit, which serve under the Metropolitan Municipality, Mayor Yücel Yılmaz said that they have eliminated a great deficiency in the region in terms of care and treatment of stray animals. Yılmaz said, "If Allah wills, our investments will continue to increase and Bandırma will become a completely different place."

'OUR INVESTMENTS WILL CONTINUE'

Stating that they came to Bandırma to lay the foundations of some great works, to open some others and to talk, Mayor of Metropolitan Municipality Yücel Yılmaz said, "As Metropolitan Municipality, we have addressed Bandırma's traffic, car park, education and health quality, in short, everything. Some of them we did immediately, some of them we planned and projected. If Allah wills, our investments will continue in the coming years and Bandırma will become a completely different place. I think that achieving results is a very valuable thing. Getting results with action, not with words. It is very valuable to get results by working, budgeting, adding value and making the city beautiful, not by talking,".

'WE ARE AT THE SERVICE OF OUR STRAYS'

Stating that the investment is appropriate for Bandırma, Erdek, Manyas, Gönen, Mayor Yücel Yılmaz said, "Our university was opened, we are with it as a Metropolitan Municipality from the moment it was opened. We had a deficiency in the region regarding our dear friends and street animals. Today, we are filling that gap with our friendly veterinarians, staff and a full-fledged Stray Animal Treatment Centre. We are lucky; our centre is right opposite our Bandırma Municipality. We will be at the service of our stray animals in brotherhood. This facility will serve many things."

NUMBER OF CENTRES WILL INCREASE

Stating that they restored the historical Bandırma Secondary School building, which served the city for years, by preserving its historical texture and put it into service as the service building of Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality, Mayor Yılmaz stated that they transformed the existing building into the Stray Animal Treatment Centre and said "We will increase the number of these centres".

'I SAY IT WITH PRIDE'

Emphasising that the veterinarians working in the Metropolitan Municipality worked hard in the earthquake region, Mayor Yücel Yılmaz said: "I am proud to say that Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality has the finest idea everywhere. Together with our VETBUS, VETBULANS and all our veterinarians, we mobilised to help the animals in the earthquake zone and tried to reach everywhere."

ASKED FOR SUPPORT FROM ANIMAL LOVERS

Underlining that they also expect support from animal lovers for the care and treatment of stray animals, Mayor Yücel Yılmaz said, "You see, find them and let us treat them. The response time is very important in these works. We are here to serve all stray animals in the region with our vehicles, veterinarians and full-fledged treatment centre without delay. May it be beneficial to our region,".

ABOUT THE CENTRE

In addition to care and treatment, the Stray Animals Treatment Centre has an infrastructure where many complicated operations can be performed by expert veterinarians. The Stray Animal Treatment Centre, which consists of an operating theatre, a treatment unit and a care room, is designed to have all the equipment necessary for the diagnosis and treatment of stray animals such as intensive care cabin, X-ray and haemogram device. The treatment centre, which is also important in terms of controlling the population with sterilisation and rehabilitation practices in the South Marmara region, will also have an emergency response vehicle available 24/7 in order to respond to stray animals in emergencies. The centre also aims to provide a quick solution to emergency intervention and treatment demands depending on the population density.
