Mayor of Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Yücel Yılmaz said "We did it, we are doing it again!" and made water free for all university students studying in Balıkesir. Upon hearing the decision, the students expressed their satisfaction and thanked Mayor Yücel Yılmaz.

Yücel Yılmaz, Mayor of Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality, has signed another big service that will make students smile. Mayor Yılmaz, who previously announced that the municipality would pay the entrance fees of the students who will take the university entrance exam, and made the buses free for university students during midterm and final weeks, has now made the water free for university students. Students, who have paid 50 percent of the water they have used until today, will now use the water free of charge during the 2023-2024 academic year with the decision of Mayor Yücel Yılmaz at the November Ordinary General Assembly Meeting of Balıkesir Water and Sewerage Administration General Directorate (BASKİ).  Explaining that they have made a 15 percent discount on water for the citizens of Balıkesirli, Mayor Yılmaz announced that they have also closed the water debts of citizens receiving support from Social Assistance, disabled, veterans and martyrs' families, and that as the Metropolitan Municipality, they will continue to pay the 1st tier water bills of earthquake victims until December 31, 2024.  The students who heard the decision expressed their satisfaction and thanked Mayor Yücel Yılmaz.
