Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality is making public transport safer, more comfortable and better quality with its always young and strong vehicle fleet. Having 58 new vehicles, Metropolitan Municipality has started to exhibit the buses that will be put into service on 19 December at different points of the city.
Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality, which always keeps its vehicle fleet young and strong with newly purchased state-of-the-art vehicles in line with the innovative vision of Mayor Yücel Yılmaz, makes public transport more comfortable, quality and safe every day. Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Department of Transportation Planning and Rail Systems and Public Transport Joint Stock Company will put 58 new vehicles into service on Tuesday, 19 December at 13.00 and put them into the service of citizens. New vehicles are exhibited at 3 different points in the city centre for citizens to examine until the commissioning day. The vehicles exhibited at Balıkesir Public Transport Centre, Şeyh Lütfullah Mosque Square and Ali Hikmet Paşa Square are being examined with interest by citizens. PUBLIC INTEREST OF 1 BILLION LIRAS
The Metropolitan Municipality, which has incorporated 209 new vehicles since 2019 with new purchases, has invested approximately 500 million liras in vehicles purchased for use in public transport. With the orders and payments made in advance, vehicles with a current value of 1.5 billion liras were purchased at a price of 1 / 3 and public interest was provided.
Halil Aygün, Deputy General Manager of Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality subsidiary Public Transport Inc. said, "In 2019, we have put 209 new public transport vehicles into the service of our citizens since Mayor Yücel Yılmaz took office. 65 of these are our natural gas zero emission environmentally friendly buses. Finally, we will put a total of 209 vehicles into service with these buses, which we will inaugurate on Tuesday, 19 December at 13.00. May it be auspicious and beneficial for our homeland, nation and Balıkesir."
