The treatment of a stray cat that swallowed 2 fishing hooks continues with great care at Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Bandırma Stray Animal Treatment Centre. The stray cat, which was noticed to have swallowed a fishing hook at Bandırma Beach, was quickly responded to by the teams of Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Bandırma Street Animal Treatment Centre upon the notification of sensitive citizens and taken to the centre. The Metropolitan Municipality veterinarians, who detected two fishing hooks in the stomach of the exhausted cat, took the cat into emergency surgery. Veterinarians, who removed the fishing hooks from the stomach with a successful operation, put the cat on its feet, but it is kept under observation in intensive care because of the damage caused by the fishing hooks to the stomach. The cat will be kept under observation in intensive care for a while longer, and all necessary interventions are carried out with great care to eliminate the life-threatening situation.

SERVING AS AN EMERGENCY RESPONSE BASE

Continuing its efforts under the leadership of Mayor Yücel Yılmaz to make Balıkesir a city where every living creature can live in peace and safety, Metropolitan Municipality ensures that stray animals live, shelter, feed and treat in better conditions. The Stray Animal Treatment Centre, which reaches not only Bandırma but also every district in the Southern Marmara Region, serves as an emergency response base for stray animals.

In order to prevent a similar situation from happening again, veterinarians warned citizens not to throw fishing lines randomly.
