Cat Swallowing Fishing Hook Released to Natural Habitat
28.12.2023

The cat, which swallowed two fishing hooks in Bandırma and was treated at Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Bandırma Street Animal Treatment Center, was released back to its natural habitat after regaining its health.

A cat was taken under treatment at Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Bandırma Street Animals Treatment Center upon a report that a fishing line was seen in its mouth. Two fishing needles were removed from the cat's stomach with a successful operation. After 10 days of treatment, the cat regained its health and was released back to its natural habitat by veterinarians.

Veterinarians Caner Çele and Asalettin Gügercin, who cared for and treated the cat, said, "On December 18, we received a report to the Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Bandırma Street Animal Treatment Center that a cat in Bandırma square had fishing line hanging from its mouth. When we went to the place upon notification, we took the cat safely and brought it to our treatment center. With our X-ray and ultrasound device in our center, we detected two fishing hooks in the cat's stomach. Together with our veterinary friends, we urgently removed the two fishing hooks in the stomach with surgery. Our cat, who was under observation in intensive care for a while, thank God, regained its health. It is now able to live on its own in its natural environment."
