Attending the Ordinary General Assembly Meeting of Balıkesir City Council, which he led the establishment of 4 years ago with the awareness of managing the city with a common mind, Mayor Yücel Yılmaz thanked the members of the City Council who voluntarily work for Balıkesir without any expectation and emphasized that 20 districts are getting stronger and stronger by taking strength from each other.
The Ordinary General Assembly Meeting of Balıkesir City Council, which has been successfully continuing its activities since the day it was founded in order to develop city vision and citizenship awareness, protect city law, sustainable development, environmental awareness, social assistance and solidarity, governance, participation and partnership in solution, was held at Avlu Congress and Culture Center. The Ordinary General Assembly Meeting of Balıkesir City Council started with a moment of silence in memory of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades-in-arms and the National Anthem, followed by the screening of the Balıkesir City Council activities video. Immediately afterwards, protocol speeches were given.
"WE ARE CONCERNED WITH 100 YEARS OF PRIDE"
"One's problem is his/her cause. Our only concern, our only cause has been the ancient city of Balıkesir." Mürsel Sabancı, President of Balıkesir City Council, made his opening speech and said: "The whole city together; with faith, passion and 100 years of pride, we have been concerned. Until this day, the law of fellow citizenship, which is the reason for the existence of the City Council, and city belonging has been the priority of all of us. I would like to thank our Governor and Mayor of Metropolitan Municipality Mr. Yücel Yılmaz for opening and guiding our journey, and may our General Assembly be auspicious."
CITY COUNCIL SHEDS LIGHT ON THE WORKS
Stating that there is no other city in the world that can come together as fast as Balıkesir and carry out so many activities, Yücel Yılmaz, Mayor of Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality, said; "In every field, they worked in a structure that constantly has commissions working, councils taking decisions, and giving horizons and inspiration everywhere. Our citizens who come to the City Council come voluntarily. Without any expectation, they work with the logic that only the right things should be done in the city, the youth should be peaceful, the elderly should be taken care of, and the disabled should be comfortable. Loyalty is something else, and our Loyalty Assembly works very differently. It visits everyone who is a trustee of the city separately. They have no expectations, they are volunteers. Maybe none of them asked each other which party they vote for. They are all working together. Our 20 districts are getting stronger and stronger by taking strength from each other. If they were to make a survey on which city in Türkiye has the highest increase in brand value, Balıkesir would probably emerge as the city with a shining brand and value. Our City Council shed light on all of these. It reveals the power of the city with a supra-political approach."
"BALIKESİR IS THE CITY WHERE LOVE, CONVERSATION AND BROTHERHOOD ARE EXPERIENCED AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL"
Stating that Balıkesir City Council was established by the good people of Balıkesir gathering around a common idea and a common mind, Governor İsmail Ustaoğlu said: "I see this city as a city where love, conversation and brotherhood are experienced at the highest level. The crowd in the hall reflects the title of the beautiful city of Kuvayi Milliye. I present my respect to all of you."
Following the protocol speeches, "City Gratitude Certificate" was presented to the names who made significant contributions to Balıkesir's culture, art and gastronomy. City Gratitude Certificates were presented to;
Berrin Bal Onur and Neşe Aksoy Biber, who contributed to the promotion and gastronomy culture of the city with their books ""Balıkesir, City of 50 Cheeses", "Balıkesir, City of Bread" and "Balıkesir, the Land of Olive",
Kürşat Zeytincilik, which contributed to gastronomy culture and development by establishing the Olive Industry Museum in Ayvalık,
To Dr. Hüseyin Balkancı for his efforts in making Balıkesir's name known in Turkish Music and for his contributions to culture and art life,
To Mehmet Çobanoğlu for his contributions to the preservation of the historical and cultural civilization accumulation we have in Balıkesir Aba Weaving and transferring it to future generations,
To Savaştepe Sarıbeyler Shuttle Weaving Master Fatma Cengiz for her contribution to the preservation of historical and cultural civilization and transferring it to future generations,
To Hasan Aycın, who was deemed worthy of the Presidential Culture and Art Grand Awards in the Caricature Branch,
"City Gratitude Certificate" was presented to Özem'le Yaşam Company for its contribution to the social, economic life, historical values, gastronomy culture and development of the city.
After the presentation of "City Gratitude Certificate", the agenda items were discussed by the council. All agenda items were unanimously approved by the members of Balıkesir City Council.
BALIKESİR CITY COUNCIL RAISES THE VALUE OF THE CITY
Meeting with the members of Balıkesir City Council in the foyer area at the end of the program, Mayor Yücel Yılmaz emphasized that the 20 districts of Balıkesir, the City of Kuvayı Milliye, have grown by adding strength to each other and said, "The slogan 'let's act together with common sense, let's strengthen our city', which we started in 2019, has found its place. The City Council embraces this the most. I think that the City Council brings all the values of the city to the top. As the Mayor of Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality, I am very pleased to lead this, as someone who accompanies the journey of revealing the potential of people."

City Council General Assembly Member Jale Bayraktar wished the General Assembly of the City Council to be auspicious and said, "We know that the works of Balıkesir City Council are an example for Türkiye. City Council Agriculture and Livestock Working Group Representative Berrin Yetkin Var said that they came from Gönen both to support Mayor Yücel Yılmaz and to thank him sincerely for bringing together the women of the Kuvayı Milliye as the city of Kuvayı Milliye and said, "He gave his best support for the empowerment of women outside of politics. We have all gathered together to support him."
