Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Secretary General Dr. Mustafa Küçükkaptan, who examined the restoration and reconstruction works that will transform the historical train station buildings into a giant Art Center, said, "These buildings will be a gift of our Mayor Yücel Yılmaz to the cultural and art history of our city."

The restoration works initiated by Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality in the historical train station buildings continue. Three buildings, two of which are registered, located in Altıeylül District Gümüşçeşme Neighborhood in an area of approximately 10 thousand square meters will be put into service as a giant Art Center after the restoration works are completed. A winter garden will also be built as part of the project.

GIFT OF OUR MAYOR YILMAZ TO THE CITY

Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Secretary General Dr. Mustafa Küçükkaptan, who examined the works planned to be completed in the near future together with Koray Karabulut, Head of the Department of Urban History and Promotion, and the control team, said, "We have received details about the functions of the buildings where restoration works are underway, the manufacturing process and the stage they are at. We will present the historical buildings, the restoration of which we plan to complete in a short time, to the service of our fellow citizens of Balıkesir as an Art Center. These buildings will be a gift of our Metropolitan Mayor Yücel Yılmaz to the cultural and artistic history of our city. We will also have surprises for our citizens in this area."

A WHOLE WITH ITS ENVIRONMENT

Renovating Balıkesir's cultural and historical assets in accordance with the original and bringing them to the city, Metropolitan Municipality accelerated the restoration works of locomotive maintenance garage, warehouse and a lodging building on an area of 10 thousand square meters in Altıeylül District Gümüşçeşme Neighborhood. The buildings, which are located at the northeast end of the TCDD Station area and have been idle for years, will become a contemporary art center with its art gallery, library and restaurant after the completion of the works.

A NEW CULTURAL DESTINATION

The building complex, which was carried out with the support of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, is expected to become an important cultural destination for both the people of Balıkesir and visitors visiting the city after the reconstruction and restoration works.
